On Saturday, May 19, 2012, the East Bay High School Student Government Association is hosting the first annual 5K4Q Run at E.G. Simmons Park. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the continued care of the Bloomingdale Library Survivor. It is a cause that is very near and dear to many people in our organization, as well as our surrounding community.
It has been nearly four years since one of our own students and SGA members was brutally attacked outside of the Bloomingdale Library. The “Bloomingdale Library Survivor”, as she has come to be known, continues to make improvements in her recovery, but the road to a complete return to health is a long and costly one for this beautiful young girl. We have been especially inspired by her story, and while not all of us knew this young woman personally as a student, we feel compelled to help her in any way that we can. As a group, we also seek to bring her identity back as a fellow East Bay student, where some of her best memories were made before the attack changed her life forever. It is our hope that this 5K run will raise needed funds to support this survivor’s costly medical care that continues to help her to recover.
We are seeking the support of companies like yours to assist us in making the 5K4Q Run a success. Your financial contribution will help us to buy needed supplies for the event, such as t-‐shirts, fliers, water and snacks; products donated will be raffled at the event to raise additional funds for the Survivor. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, and we would be more than happy to advertise your company at the event if you wish to provide us with business cards, fliers or a banner.
If you have any questions or would like to make a donation, Please contact SGA members Kendall MacDonald or Kaley Bishop at 5K4QRUN@gmail.com or (813) 364-GO5K (4655). To register for the race, please visit http://tiny.cc/5K4QRUN. ;
